Daylesford
Us Australians are #blessed to live in such a remarkable country where there are so many beautiful destinations right at our doorstep. Living in Melbourne, we're surrounded by beauty where we can drive just 1.5 hours in any direction and find picture perfect places to visit. Daylesford is no different.
In Daylesford, you can entice your taste buds with beautiful food, treat your eyes to beautifully curated galleries, pamper yourself at one of the more then 30 day spas and at the end of the day, retreat to some of the regions most unique accommodation options. Here are some of our favourite Daylesford spots:
THE CONVENT GALLERY:
Overlooking Daylesford, The Convent Gallery boasts an incredible range of activities and sites that can easily take up a day in itself.
Start with breakfast at Bad Habits Cafe. Do yourself a favour and order the French toast- Nutella and banana sandwiched between slices of French toast, espresso mascarpone and hazlenut praline topped off with vanilla icecream. Yummmmm!
The Convent Gallery houses the work of established and emerging artists in a labyrinth of beautifully and artfully restored spaces. Renovated from a dilapidated convent, you'll take a journey up and down stairs, through huge sun filled rooms, inside a bell tower. Each perfectly imperfect space hosts is own delightful pieces that are for sale. You can also book yourself into a guided tour if you'd like a thorough introduction to the gallery and it's history.
The Convent can also host your very special day. With the historic chapel, beautiful gardens and classy function room, its a one stop, dream come true for any couple.
Before you wrap up your visit at The Convent, make sure you take the time to walk through the beautiful gardens. Impeccably maintained, the colours, smells and sunshine will make for a perfect day all year round.
THE BOATHOUSE:
Perched on the bank of Lake Daylesford, The Boathouse offers a tranquil backdrop to a delicious meal. Sit on the deck outside and enjoy a meal with a glass of wine or tuck yourself inside which is tastefully decorated with David Bromley pieces (another favourite of mine). Perfect all year round and food that will keep you coming back, The Boathouse is a must do while in town.
STAY:
Cosy Tents is a camping trip, or should I say galloping trip, that Im always happy to go on. Cosy Tents sits on a picturesque field housing a range of tents with all the comforts of a hotel. Not without a nicely decorated bathroom, fire pit and fancy BBQ area, you won't want to leave. It's also very central to Daylesford's town centre.
The White house is a stylishly decorated cottage that every vintage and antique lover will adore. Designed by master interior stylist Lyn Gardner, this property hosts a number of rooms, perfect for a group or for a romantic weekend away. It's also central to Daylesford's town centre, however I'm guessing that you won't want to leave once you arrive!.
