Bordeaux - An Overview
Bordeaux would have to be one of my favourite places in Europe! Its a big call, but I stand by that statement!
I’ve always loved Paris, but Bordeaux gives the city of lights a run for it’s money! I personally think that the food in Bordeaux far exceeds that of Paris, the shopping is fantastic, the city runs at a perfect pace (and not to mention the people are much friendlier). Bordeaux is still as beautiful as Paris without that pretentious element that some tourists feel Paris holds.
Aside from all of that, its one of the most famous red wine regions of the world! So if you call yourself a wine connoisseur (or are just someone who likes a good glass of red like me), you’ll love this city.
While Bordeaux seems like it’s quite of the way, it’s only a few hours away from Spain and Paris so its easy to get to.
If you are visiting the region just for the wineries, base yourself in Bordeaux and take day trips out to the wineries. We actually spent one day on a fantastic tour and spent the rest of our time in Bordeaux and a day trip to unmissable Saint Emilion.
